Our Mission

We believe Jesus is

the answer the world is looking for.

Following Jesus is life transforming,

purpose giving and His church is the hope of the world.

We are a community of people wholeheartedly following Jesus, influencing and resourcing far beyond.

Senior Leader

Betsy is an author, entrepreneur, practising psychotherapist, complex-trauma specialist & the Senior Leader of Sound Church. Betsy has founded several charities that work directly with those who are impacted by trauma and consults both Governmental and Non-Governmental Agencies in over 30 nations.

She is a firm believer that following Jesus is life transforming, and there has never been a bigger need in our world for a church that is trauma informed and where we see the kind of stuff that Jesus did happen.

Betsy is married to Andrew and a mother to four wonderful sons.

Betsy is the 5th generation pastor. Whilst she deeply appreciated the opportunity to develop a faith in Jesus that helped strengthen her through many different traumatic seasons, she was also quite determined from a young age to make the church experience more trauma informed. She was frustrated by the lack of understanding of child development and children's needs; the lack of safeguarding; the lack of understanding of young people; lack of teaching around shame, humanity, vulnerability, emotions and relationships despite these themes being very much within the Bible. She is frequently heard to use the phrase ' humans are complex' and has made sure that the culture is one where we are all wrestling with the complexity of being human the church incubates ideas to bring hope and safety and healing to our community and world.

OUR VISION

Isaiah 58

6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

Isaiah 61

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and to comfort all who mourn.

Our Key Values

2019: Sound Auditorium Finished

We finished building our purpose built church auditorium in June 2019. It took us 11 years of working towards getting planning permission to be able to build it. Our doors are now open to everyone who wants to come and find out why we, as a group of people, have all sacrificed money to build somewhere that will last for generations to come as a place to find Jesus and the hope He brings. We meet here on Sundays and for larger mid week meetings and are excited about the way the space will be used for future projects too!

Volunteers

We have around 100 volunteers to help our church work each week,

from musicians to host team to kids team to youth and tech and many more. We are so grateful for all they bring to make the church what it is.

As a local church in Bath, we have been called 'Freedom Centre UK' for the past 12 years, but as we begin 2023, we are now called ‘Sound Church’. We are a collective and movement of churches & charities that are called by God to bring healing & restoration across the Globe, with Isaiah 61\58 as foundational scriptures; the movement is called the Sound Global Collective.
